Have you ever wondered is it spiritual to be sensual? Are you more comfortable with your spirituality than your physicality or at least keeping them separate? If so then you might find this article interesting. In the year 2002 I had the great joy of going to Egypt with my beloved partner, Friedemann and Shamanic Journeys. To my even greater delight my beloved asked me to marry him at Sekhmet’s temple at Karnak. And my spirit teacher Thoth asked me to teach a 13-month class on the Egyptian Pantheon. The paths of my sensuality and spirituality did not only cross they merged. In this merging process I realized I had to get more grounded in my body and experience the joys that come with being physical. With having the most magical engagement, betrothal ceremony and celebration that even exceeded the wildest dreams of my inner princess I was off to a great start.
Let me paint the picture for you. Together with the group Friedemann and I danced on the roof of Hathor’s Temple at Dendera weaving an elemental spirit basket to hold us until we got married. Nicki performed a betrothal ceremony in the sky goddess Nut’s chapel with Nut’s star bellied beauty radiating from the ceiling. We exchanged cartouches and our love for one another. Then Nicki led us all on a sensual journey of dance and ecstasy with Hathor, with Friedemann and I dancing in the center. (At this point I noticed there was some awkwardness, inhibitions and fear that was mixed in with my elation and ecstasy. I moved with these sensations and noted them to be looked at a later time.) Then we were all whisked away to the beautiful Sail Hasish Hotel on the Red Sea with bright blue water, white sands, snorkeling and a perfectly romantic setting.
All my expectations of the trip were greatly exceeded, I am deeply grateful to Egypt and to Nicki.
When I got home I began to reflect on the awkwardness I felt while dancing in Hathor’s temple and how I tended to keep my spirituality and sensuality separate and in a tenuous balance. I began to notice a similar disconnect of body and spirit in people around me who were on a dedicated spiritual path, adept in the psycho-spiritual realms and at the same time not fully occupying their physical form. I thought of the Sufi’s we saw in Egypt who used twirling and dance to ground the divine ecstasy and joy into their physical form and realized that spirituality and physicality are meant to go together. The body is a house of the spirit and in Egypt I wasn’t balancing these aspects they merged and it felt so right. I wanted more of this and I set an intention to merge body and soul, sensuality and spirituality and to fully occupy my physical form. I asked the pantheon for help with this.
In answer to Thoth’s request I began to teach a class on the Egyptian Pantheon, working with a different God or Goddess and Chakra each month. Through the work with Sobek and the first chakra I realized that the more I am connected to my body the more I can be in and connected to my divinity. The higher the frequency that my body resonates with the more my soul can be fully grounded in the physical form and the more I can experience heaven on earth. Although anti-intuitive this is actually how the body is designed. The root Chakra is the plug in of the essence of the soul into the human body. It is the igniter of the Kundalini energy and nectar, which has the purpose of feeding the body and soul with the energy of above and below. If we look in nature we know that the tree can only grow as tall as the root system can hold. This is exactly the same as with the human form. When the soul plugs into the root it is stable to soar beyond the dimensions of the soul’s body.
If you would like to fully anchor your soul into your body so that you can have a solid foundation to unify with the divine, simply state “I now choose, with ease and grace to anchor my soul into my root chakra, my perineum, my anus, my ankle and my feet.”
Once I was fully anchored into my body, the next step was to enjoy it. Hathor stepped forward to assist me with this journey through working with my 2nd Chakra. Before I go into the work she and I did together let me tell you a little bit about her. Originally Hathor was known as the sky Goddess of spiritual nourishment, the celestial energies of divine love and ecstasy. Hathor as divine ecstasy later becomes Hathor the Earth goddess of fertility, sex and love. This high vibrational energy of love was embodied and grounded through dance, music, intoxication, joy and bodily bliss.
Pretty soon into my journey with Hathor I realized my capacity to feel joy was short-circuited. Intellectually I knew that I had a fabulous life, doing work that I love, having an incredible partner, healthy body, good friends…but somehow fear and joy had gotten tangled up. It was easier for me to focus on my spirituality and divine ecstasy then on enjoying the physical sensations of having a body. I decided to spend an intensive month with Hathor working on this pleasure issue. I kept trying to schedule meetings with her and she kept guiding me to take naps, baths, walks, sing, dance, make love, eat wonderful foods, see friends and to play. She taught me to be gentle with myself and to receive assistance from others in clearing my fear and slower vibrations. I received massage, energy healing, energetic chiropractic, acupuncture, business coaching combined with many clearing sessions from my guides. Hathor had me experience my senses and the joy of being in the body. Before I knew it I was truly enjoying my life. This journey that Hathor took me on reminded me of her own evolution as sky goddess and divine love and Earth Goddess and physical love. I realized that grounding the high vibration of pure love was what was offered to me in the betrothal ceremony in Nut’s chapel and through Hathor’s dance, this was also what I saw the Sufi dancers doing.
Hathor is here to assist us in this journey of being divinely human, spiritually sensual, soul grounded in body. If you would like to experience more pure love and divinity in your physical form and merge your sensuality and spirituality ask Hathor to help you. Her message to us at this time is very simple: love with every cell of your body. Use your body to be love incarnate, dance, sing, move, make love, do what pleases you, appreciate beauty and choose to be in right relationship with yourself and the world around you. Focus on the whispers in your ears, the divine desires in your heart. Take baths, go for long walks, and receive assistance in clearing your lower vibrational issues. We can connect to the divine through our spiritual path and through enjoying our bodies- it is a full circle. Embody the vibration of love and merge your sensuality and spirituality. |
